American Basketball International Combine FAQ

  1. When is the International Combine?

The Combine is being held from Friday August 25th, through Sunday September 10th, 2023.

  1. Who will be there and what is the program?

The Combine will host 4 International teams and a USA select pro squad chosen by American Basketball Enterprises and features 16 days of individual player and team instruction and practices, as well as a round-robin game schedule concluding with a championship tournament. The Combine will also feature appearances by prominent USA basketball personalities who will conduct player, team, coaches and staff sessions.

  1. What does our fee cover?
    1. Hotel accommodations per attending team for 14 (players, coaches and staff) at the host hotel.
    2. All meals beginning the night of arrival through breakfast the morning of departure. Meals will be served buffet style prepared and catered through the host hotel. A per diem allowance will be provided for the days designated as off days to encompass both lunch and dinner. 
    3. Transportation of two 7 passenger vans per team for use during the entire stay. 
    4. Transportation to and from Orlando International airport upon arrival (Friday August 25th, 2023) and departure (Sunday September 10th, 2023)
    5. All court instruction, practice and competitive game-related expenses
    6. Athletic training and medical attendants. Teams/leagues should consider bringing a medical training staff individual with their traveling party.

 

  1. How would our organization, team or league benefit by attending?
    1. International teams that are seeking a distinct competitive advantage in the upcoming 23-24 season would benefit from direct exposure to US teaching, training and method systems of play and from additional pre-season competitive games.
    2. League teams combining to send a selected player each as part of the overall team. Especially players that the organization believes is crucial as regards the players increased developing role on its 23-24 roster   
    3. Teams would benefit if they are seeking additional pre-season preparation due to transformational changes in their organization such as:
      1. new ownership or front office changes
      2. new general management staff
      3. new coaching staff
      4. relegation status
      5. incorporation of new players through team-building experience

 

  1. How will International teams attending be chosen?

The selection process is a first-come, first-served basis. Teams/organizations should first register by submitting the appropriate Organizational Waiver and the initial down payment. Upon receipt of full payment, on or before Wednesday August 9, 2023 teams/organizations will be notified of their acceptance. ABE will refund any deposits received, less any transactional fee administered by the banking institutions involved, to teams/organizations who are not one of the first four to submit full payment. No refunds will be given to teams/organizations once they have been notified of acceptance.

Team/Player Package and Fees

 

International Team Travel Party – Fee includes up to 14 individuals per team. Fee does not include airfare to or from US. ABE will certainly work with foreign league organizations to secure best available round trip airline pricing.

Arrival Date – Friday, August 25, 2023

Teams should schedule US arrival for Friday the 25th of August 2023 US Eastern Standard Time. Teams should secure their flight arrangement from the point of departure to Orlando International Airport (OAI) USA. Combine  staff will meet and greet everyone at the airport where provided ground transportation will be supplied to transport to the host hotel. 

Team Package Inclusions:

Accommodations – Each team will be provided 8 rooms at the host hotel: six (6) rooms of double occupancy and two (2) rooms of single occupancy. 

Meals – While at the Combine, all teams will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner, buffet style, catered by host hotel restaurant and catering staff.

Off days – Tour and Sightsee days will occur on Saturdays and Sundays, August 26th, 27th and September 2nd & 3rd. ABE will coordinate with attending teams and players the various opportunities from attractions, beaches shopping among others for all to engage while at the Combine. A per diem monetary allowances to each attendee will be provided on Tour and Sightsee days.

ABE Staff Liaison –An ABE staff liaison along with host hotel staff will be available to aid international visiting teams with arrangements.

Training Sessions include top US instruction in – Individual and team-oriented Shooting, Passing, and Ball handling; individual and team instruction of man to man and zone defense; pressing defenses and offenses; special situation play; practice time for team and individual workouts; nutrition and strength training methodology; coaches Q&A sessions and much more.

Live Games and Champions Tournament – Teams will play a complete game schedule against each other as well as a Champions Tournament. All games and sessions will be video documented. Games will be played Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights during the Combine.

 Team Attendance Fee – $4,200 USD* per player /attendee

Remaining Fee Amount – due Wednesday August 16th, 2023

Length of stay – 17 days, 16 nights

*Air travel to and from the USA – Attendance fee does not include airfare costs to and from the US.

Airfare cost is the responsibility of the attending team/organization/league. ABE believes attending organizations are better able to work within their current structure to purchase round trip airfare, as well as to attend to passport requirements and possible ticket changes that may occur while in the US.  International teams should seek arrival and departures into Orlando International Airport (OIA).

ABE will help any team organization in recommending a US travel agency with its purchase of round trip airfare into and out of the US if necessary.  

Combine Announcement

American Basketball Enterprises, LLC, a USA Florida registered limited liability company, announces a unique opportunity for international professional basketball leagues and teams and players to participate in its summer preseason International Combine. The Combine will be held beginning Friday, August 25th (arrival date) and conclude Sunday, September 10, 2023(departure date). 

The Combine will feature daily training sessions conducted by prominent USA basketball coaches and clinicians, as well as evening games featuring international competition which includes a US team of ABE selected professional players. Please view the listing of those individuals and their bio’s scheduled to attend.

The location of the Combine is in the heart Central Florida, ranked as the number one largest U.S. travel and tourism destination of 2022! Teams will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy Central Florida’s world famous beaches, attractions and ambiance during scheduled off days. Please view the daily itinerary schedule for additional information.

Our home basketball facility is the Well Activity Center. The complex features 3 hardwood professional courts, and will host all basketball sessions and games. Our host hotel is part of the Hilton family of hotels with spacious rooms and an on-site restaurant which will cater a buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner to all participants and guests during the Combine. Participating teams will compete in a round-robin game schedule, as well as participate in a champion’s tournament.

The Combine is open to professional leagues and member teams that seek to preseason train as a team or to professional leagues in conjunction with league teams to perhaps allow each of its member teams to select a player to participate to provide a unequalled opportunity to enhance their individual and team skills and abilities.  ABE’s commitment is to provide participating teams and leagues the opportunity to improve their basketball prowess thereby impacting their countries’ professional basketball season.

Registration and Fee Information

The Combine is open to:

  • Professional Teams seeking to train or gain preseason competition in the USA
  • Professional Leagues and its member teams to send a player per team, thus constructing a ten player roster along with four additional slots (I.E., Head Coach, Asst. Coach, Athletic medical trainer, League official)  thus providing a unique training opportunity to improve, especially if the selected player is being counted on to provide a larger roll in his team’s plans for the upcoming 23-24 basketball season!

Arrival and departure cities:

Flights can be scheduled into Orlando Fl., USA (OIA) from most International cities airports.

The Combine location is within the greater Orlando area.

Reservations will be processed on a first come, first served, basis and according to availability. ABE has extended the invitation to participate to multiple leagues through their league offices and teams directly. International team representation is limited to 4 teams.
